My passion for animals goes back as far as I can remember.

Growing up, I loved my pets (including a Beagle, Newfoundland, cat, fish, AND a hamster) and enjoyed volunteering at a local wildlife rescue. Once I realized I was able to turn my passion into a career, the search began for where I belonged in the pet care industry.

In 2008, I started working as a bather at the Johnson City PetCo. I quickly realized that this was my true calling and I immediately enrolled in their Certified Groomer Program. After completing the program in 2009 (but really, I’ve never stopped learning) I began grooming all breeds and building a loyal client following. Over the next 8 years I not only obtained extensive experience within the industry but worked my way up to the Grooming Salon Manager.

In March of 2017 I decided to step away from the corporate scene. I wanted not only to try my hand at being self-employed but apply my skills and experience in an environment which would allow me to provide more individual attention to my clients.

I began working at K-9 Klips Grooming by Jane in Endicott which allowed me to grow and develop new skills and experience what grooming was like in a private salon setting. After 2 years, I felt I had the knowledge, experience, and desire to create something very special and was ready to start up my own company.

In April of 2019 Vanity Fur opened our doors. My main priority is making your pets grooming experience the best it can possibly be while keeping it affordable. I treat every dog as if it were my own and part of my family.

As a business owner I also recognize the importance of giving back and continue to provide my services for various shelters and rescue organizations. I am so proud and so excited for the future of Vanity Fur NY and look forward to helping your pet look and feel their very best!

My love for animals started when I was just a little girl. I’ve always had a special connection with pets and a soft spot for making them feel loved, safe, and cared for. As I grew up and got dogs of my own, that lifelong love for animals led me to discover something I truly enjoyed — pet grooming. What started from the love I had for my own pets grew into a career that I’m incredibly passionate about.

Today, I’m proud to groom both dogs and cats, treating every pet that comes into my care with the same patience, kindness, and attention I would want for my own.

My goal is to create a calm, comfortable, and low-stress grooming experience, especially for pets who may be nervous, unsure, or need a little extra patience. I believe grooming is about so much more than a haircut or a bath — it’s about building trust, getting to know each pet individually, and helping them look and feel their best.

From tiny pups to big dogs, fluffy cats to spicy kitties, I truly love them all. Every pet deserves gentle care, a little extra pampering, and a groomer who treats them like family.

I am the owner of The Basic Bark LLC, mom to four little dogs and four cats. For the past 6 years I have been working full time as a veterinary assistant and learning to groom in my free time. Prior to that, I also worked as a kennel attendant at a local dog shelter.

From my time at the veterinary hospital and the dog shelter, I have witnessed many dogs coming that were in dire need of grooming: unkept and matted coats that held on to moisture and bacteria causing skin infections, long nails that impeded the pets ability to walk, and dirty ears plugged with hair leading to ear infections. Because of this, I understand just how important routine grooming is. After talking with the owners, I found the reasons these pets were suffering from these conditions often came down to one thing: finances.

I aim to provide affordable grooming services for the health and well-being of pets. No more skipping vital services due to cost.
